What is the schedule for the charrette?
The charrette will take place from June 19 – June 26, 2016. A detailed hourly schedule will be sent to participants the week before the charrette launches. Participants are expected to have full commitment in the charrette as you will be working in breakout teams and your teammates will be relying on you! If there are any conflicts with your schedule please contact us so we can help you with your scheduling issues.

General Schedule Overview:

  • June 19 // 2:00pm-6:00pm: Meet your team, charrette briefing and special screening for the Future Ways of Living film
  • June 20 // 9:00am-7:00pm: Team ideation session and World Expo site tour
  • June 21 // 9:00am-6:00pm: Design development day
  • June 22 // 9:00am-6:00pm: Presentation day 1
  • June 23 // 9:00am-6:00pm: Design development day (continued)
  • June 24 //  9:00am-6:00pm: Project refinement
  • June 25 // 2:00pm-11:00pm: Final publication and exhibition strategy
  • June 26 // 2:00am-7:00pm: Presentations & closing charrette ceremony!
  • Note: In the evening of June 26th from 8:00pm until the party ends we will  be hosting a celebration which all participants are welcome to join!
  • June 28 // 5:00pm-7:00pm: Triennale Exhibition Launch (Optional for participants who would like to see their work showcased to the public.)

What if I have a special dietary need or require assistance with accessibility?
Please inform us by June 10 if you require accommodations for food or accessibility and we will make arrangements to accommodate you.

Where can I stay in Milan during the charrette?
Participants will be responsible for their own accommodation if needed. We would recommend http://www.in-domus.it/en/residenze/campus-monneret/

Where is the event being held?
The Cascina Triulza at the former World Expo site. Click here to see the location on Google Maps.

What food is provided to us?
Lunch and light snacks will be provided during the charrette. Participants will be responsible for their own breakfast and dinner.

What should I bring with me to the charrette?
Participants should bring the following:

  • Your laptop (with the programs your need installed)
  • Sketchbook
  • Pens + pencils as needed
  • Dinner money
  • Additional snacks if desired

Where can I see our work after it’s finished?
The work will be showcased in an exhibition at the Cascina Triulza for the Triennale on June 28th (public exhibition launch date) and will be up until September.

What expenses am I responsible for?
The Future Ways of Living event will provide, free of charge:

  • Free attendance to the event
  • Lunches and some light snacks during the event
  • A tour of the former Expo site

Participants must source the following independently:

  • Transportation to and from the site
  • Transportation to and from Milan if necessary
  • Breakfast and dinner

If I am a student participating in the charrette will I receive a course credit from my university?

  • Students from Politecnico di Milano will earn 4 credits upon completion of the charrette!
