“Gazebo Confessional”
IwB Student exhibit during Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2014
St. James Park – Saturday October 4th starting at 7PM!
The Institute without Boundaries students will create a fun and interactive exhibition for Saturday’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2104 called “Gazebo Confessional.”
Working with Exhibit Change and their Landmark exhibit in the beautiful St.James Park, the students build on the idea of self-reflection as a means of connection and community-building—to connect people to each other through the act of sharing personal anecdotes and histories.
For the entire night they will transform the gazebo into a confessional, an intimate and interactive space for the exchange of stories between two individuals. On the facade of the gazebo, we invite visitors to read, write and contribute their stories of Toronto.
The installation is a part of the Exhibit Change; LandMark is uncovering the stories of the people who breath life into our city. By finding these everyday heroes, this project acts as a reminder that the built environment which we have surrounded ourselves with is not everything that we are. Rather, the pulse, the culture and the future of Toronto is determined by the people who live here. What we do, and the city we continue to build, should be focused on a thriving Toronto.
